A beautiful sphere of concentrically developed, velvety, knobbly Malachite which shimmers beautifully once well lit, especially the silky concave area forming the base of the specimen. Overall, the Malachite is a dark bluish leaf green becoming a brighter, emerald green where it becomes increasingly fibrous and silky textured. The Shilu mine in Guangdong Province, China, was a skarn-hosted copper-molybdenum mine, worked as an open pit, Malachite being its principal ore. This is now totally flooded, appearing on the map as a small lake. This solid and compact specimen displays well from every direction and is a highly aesthetic and remarkable example of Malachite from Shilu.
