Diamond Macle Twin Var. CONGO BOART$1,200.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
A great example of a Diamond Macle Twin with a triangular aspect and opaque deep pistachio-green colour. The Diamond measures to 8 mm and is from the Kasai-Oriental area of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This area was extensively mined for placer Diamonds before the discovery of several Kimberlite pipes. It is a lovely example of this habit of Diamond and comes in a small clear plastic box with integral magnifying lens in the lid. Macle is a crystallographic term which describes a twin crystal of spinel law habit forming two interwoven lozenge (or diamond) shaped prisms. The regional name for such twins is Congo Boart, Boart being the term for a granular, opaque diamond.
