NATIVE Copper$450.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
A rare specimen of Native Copper from old underground workings associated with the attempt to reopen the old mines at East Avoca in the early 1960s and later in the 1970s by open cast methods. This specimen is a typical example from the post-mining formation of Native Copper comprising of pisolitic spheroids to a few millimetres, of slightly red-tinted, milk-chocolate brown Native Copper. Post-mining specimens such as this are found on entering old mine workings, where copper-rich solutions have precipitated metallic copper when conditions such as pH, Eh, temperature and substrate allow. This is a fine and rare post-mining Native Copper from East Avoca, an area to the south east of County Wicklow famous for its copper mines.\n
