An aesthetic combination of colourless, semi-transparent nail-head Calcite crystals richly coating a bed of pinkish-orange, fine-granular Calcite over a matrix of massive Calcite. This striking contrast of colours particularly highlights the colourless nail-head crystals which are typically 0.5 to 1 cm tall. The specimen is from the Vrančice area, where mining dates to medieval times, within the Příbram mining district of Central Bohemian in the Czech Republic. Under LWUV the nail-head crystals fluoresce bright orange-red and look magnificent; conversely, the pinkish-orange granular Calcite is non-fluorescent. A great Calcite from Vrančice.\n
