A superb miniature Azurite specimen from the all-time classic locality of Chessy-les-Mines. Azurite from Chessy occurs in a number of forms, with rounded, egg-shaped crystal-lined nodules one of the rarest and most sought after. This half egg-like specimen is lined with glossy, deep blue Azurite crystals many displaying a parallel growth habit and very sharp, bladed edges. The reverse of the specimen displays an almost neon blue colour. The specimen comes with an old handwritten label from the famous collection of Commissioner Johann Isidor Weinberger (1838-1915) of Vienna. That label is overprinted with the stamp of dealer Julius Bohm who acquired the collection in 1925. Classic, old-time Azurite of the highest order and from a highly regarded German collector.
