Fluorapatite
A beautiful cabinet specimen of Fluorapatite from the Greifenstein Rocks near the town of Ehrenfriedersdorf in Saxony, Germany. These magnificent formations create an area of outstanding scenic beauty amongst the surrounding forest; the various outcrops being a lithium-rich granite. This specimen has an abundance of sharply formed Fluorapatite crystals measuring to 1 cm across the pinacoid with striated prism faces. They are gemmy to translucent and of an attractive light, yet rich, violet. The Fluorapatites sit at differing orientations across the display face, contrasting nicely against the tiny Quartz crystals which form the creamy white matrix. A fine remarkably fine specimen of Fluorapatite from this now 'off-collecting limits' location.
