Legrandite
Acidic golden orange Legrandite crystals to 1.1 cm form several attractive clusters on a rusty coloured plate of naturally corroded Siderite crystals. Legrandite is a zinc arsenate and has formed in the oxidised zone of the Ojuela mine at Mapimí in the state of Durango, Mexico. The Legrandite forms bundles of parallel grouped crystals whose terminations produce a ragged or sawtooth apex. Where crystals developed flat against the matrix, they are doubly-terminated. All crystals are translucent, acrid lemon-orange tending to golden orange and occur on the back of the specimen as well as its display face. A lovely miniature Legrandite from Ojuela mine.
