A choice mauve-plum, perfectly terminated Tourmaline crystal embedded in creamy-white sheaves of Cleavelandite feldspar, a variety of Albite. From the lithium pegmatite deposit close to the village of Paprok in the Kamdesh District of Afghanistan, the main Tourmaline crystal measures 4.6 x 2.7 x 2.7 cm and grades from a very dark green-black base and lower half to mottled hues of mauve and light plum. Examination of the crystal around its base clearly reveals green zones. With gently curved prism faces and pronounced vertical striations, the termination is a flat pinacoid, but shows delightful sinuous growth structures over the entire surface. A similar 1.5 cm high x 2 cm wide Tourmaline crystal sits to one side, mainly obscured by overgrowths of Albite. A narrow 3 x 0.5 cm pink Tourmaline intersects a prism face of the large crystal. A beautiful combination of Tourmaline (probably Elbaite) and Cleavelandite from Paprok.
