Hedenbergite
A group of fine Hedenbergite crystals from Malmberget in Norrbotten County, Sweden, set in an unusual very fine granular greenish-golden matrix. Hedenbergite, an iron rich end member of the pyroxene group, occurs here as well-developed crystals varying between 5 mm across and the main blocky crystal which measures 2.4 x 1.2 x 1.0 cm. Some of the Hendenbergite faces are richly coated with sub-mm, gemmy golden-yellow-green dodecahedral crystals of a Garnet Group species. A good example of Hedenbergite and a specimen well worth examining under magnification.
