Goethite can sometimes deliver a big punch and this specimen lives up to this reputation! Almost the entire top surface is carpeted in velvety micro-rosettes of golden-chocolate brown acicular Goethite. Under low magnification hundreds of such spherical clusters can be seen catching the light and look magnificent. The Goethite sits on a layer of matt black micro-crystals of Calcite and mm sized buff Calcite rhombs overlying a naturally etched base of white Calcite. A splendid Goethite from the P?'bram mining district in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic.
