This quite magnificent small cabinet specimen of Zinkenite with Chalcostibite and Siderite is from a rarely seen locality in the Saint-Pons area of Provence-Alpes-C'te d'Azur in France. The sulphosalt deposits here were only discovered in the 1980s and due to more recent landslides, access to these mines is no longer possible. Well crystallised Zinkenite, Chalcostibite and Siderite all richly fill a roughly triangular shaped geode formed of mixed massive light-rust coloured Siderite and massive Chalcostibite. The inner dimension of the cavity is 7 cm tall by 5.5 cm wide at its broadest point. This large vug is filled with metallic dark grey acicular crystals of Zinkenite of up to about 1 cm; broad blades of Chalcostibite of similar colour and lustre to about 1.5 x 0.8 cm and light rusty-tan rhombic crystals of Siderite. An amazing specimen of rare minerals, from a rare French locality.
