St. Michael's Mount is a spectacular tidal island linked to the mainland by a short causeway. The underlying, highly mineralised granite, only manifests at surface on the southern, seaward side of the Mount where tin bearing veins run out to sea. St. Michael's Mount is now owned by the National Trust and all mineral collecting is not only strictly banned but also rigorously enforced. This ex. matrix cluster of black Cassiterite crystals of up to 1.6 cm is large for this locality and clearly displays twinning. St. Michael's Mount is adjacent to Marazion, just east of Penzance in the southwest tip of Cornwall, England. To use a Cornish idiom, this is a most handsome (pronounced 'ansum) small thumbnail specimen (probably more fingernail than thumb).
