Cubanite with Calcite$7,000.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
A superb cabinet specimen of crystallized Cubanite from Chibougamau in Québec, Canada. A thick layer of golden to brassy sulphide (probably Cubanite) is coated on one side by white platy/bladed Calcite crystals with many prismatic and platy brassy-yellow Cubanite crystals protruding upwards. Many of the Cubanite crystals are sixlings - repeatedly twinned crystals. The largest is 8 mm across but many others are 4 or 5 mm across. The presence of Calcite makes the Cubanite crystals really stand out. The specimen shows the classic assemblage seen at Henderson No. 2 mine, near Chibougamau. The mine exploited an anorthosite-hosted copper-gold deposit and is famous for its world-class Cubanite crystals, formed in late-stage Calcite lined shear-fractures. A superb Canadian classic of a scale and quality worthy of the finest collection.
