The Pikes Peak area in Colorado is world famous for its Amazonite and Smoky Quartz, but Topaz is not that commonly seen in collections as part of this mineral suite. This off-matrix specimen from Glen Cove at Pikes Peak is beautifully and complexly terminated, some faces of which are mirror-smooth while others are naturally etched and display micro-growth structures and patterns. The Topaz is colourless to ethereal sky blue and water-clear, mainly gemmy and where detached from its matrix, is conchoidally fractured. A great and rare example of Topaz from Glen Cove at Pikes Peak, Colorado.
