Baryte
From the Frizington iron mining area in west Cumbria, a superb cabinet specimen of classic crystallised Baryte displaying many well-formed bladed, chisel-like terminated crystals measuring to 5.5 cm long. The Baryte crystals are primarily transparent grading to a gemmy pastel lime green with red tips and are selectively coated on some faces by a dense film of red-brown Hematite. The Baryte sits on a matrix of Dolomite/Hematite. This beautiful good sized cabinet specimen comes with a detailed label from a previous collection. Please note! The colour of this somewhat unusual green Baryte has been preserved because of being kept of out sunlight for probably well over 100 years. Please do not expose it to daylight in order to conserve its natural colour.
