Demantoid is an extremely rare green variety of Andradite known from just a small number of localities in good crystals. Crystals on matrix are even rarer, making this specimen very special indeed. It comes from the renowned Tubussis Farm 22 in the Erongo Region of Namibia. Not only are the crystals on matrix, but with strong lighting their exceptional gemmy nature and wonderful lime green to acid green colour is seen, and they are a really great size, at up to 8 mm across. The specimen is small cabinet in size and richly covered in sharp well-formed crystals which display unusual elongated and flattened forms, but contrast wonderfully upon their white Quartz-Calcite matrix. A very striking Garnet specimen in an extremely rare and attractive colour. From an older collection which passed through the hands of Christian Weise.
