Scapolite
A perfectly terminated, pale lilac crystal of Scapolite displays to full advantage against a snow-white matrix of sucrosic marble. The primary Scapolite crystal measures 2.3 x 1.3 x 0.9 cm; is semi-transparent and partly gemmy towards its four-sided pyramidal termination. Two smaller Scapolite crystals measuring 1.4 cm and 1.0 cm are embedded at opposite ends of the matrix. From Badakhshan Province in Afghanistan, the marble fluoresces a dull blackish plum in SWUV yet shows no fluorescence under LWUV. The Scapolite is non-fluorescent at all UV wavelengths. A great example of lilac Scapolite from Afghanistan.
