Cassiterite (Bejewans Tin Stream Works)
An ugly yet greatly appealing specimen of a crystalline fibrous form of Cassiterite, occurring as intergrown crude brown-black spherules capping and penetrating a block of limonitic veinstone Quartz. From the alluvial deposit near to Bejewans, south-west of Penzance, this specimen could be classified as the variety 'wood tin' due to its fibrous habit. A very interesting and historic specimen, originating from the Baroness Burdett-Coutts collection, but, sadly, with no label.
