Chalcostibite with Quartz and Tetrahedrite
Specimens of Chalcostibite - a rare copper antimony sulphide - are not often seen for sale from Romania but the Boldut mine at Cavnic has produced some of the world's best crystals, many collected during the 1990s. This miniature specimen is a lovely example from Boldut mine and comes from the famous Simone and Peter Huber collection. The Chalcostibite forms clusters of intergrown metallic dark grey bladed crystals on a crystallized white Quartz veinstone matrix. The crystals of Chalcostibite reach a few millimetres in length and are abundantly intergrown with iridescent metallic tarnished yellow Tetrahedrite micro-crystals. A very fine miniature of this rare species.
