Fluorite
This bed of exceptionally transparent and gemmy pale mauve-clove Fluorite crystals is from the famous Heights mine near Westgate in Weardale and is one of the rarer colour varieties found at this mine. The cubic crystals are, in the main, elongated and occur as both single and interpenetrant twins. The smaller crystals have white frosted cloudy centres and faces framed by an outer trim of transparent clove. However, with increasing crystal size, they become ever-more gemmy with the largest attaining exceptional optical clarity. The Fluorite covers a trimmed iron-stone matrix and is a beautiful example of this fine colour from Height's mine, a name known around the world for its magnificent Fluorite.
