Calcite
A rare location piece of finely crystallised Calcite from the 170 ft Level of Great Rake mine at Carsington, about 9 km southwest of Matlock. One to two millimetre pale lemon buff Calcite crystals form a hillocky druse over a coarsely crystallised Calcite matrix. Occasional scalenohedral Calcite crystals to around 1 cm also nestle in a few vugs and crevice's. Under LWUV the Calcite fluoresces reasonably bright creamy white.
