Celestine
An excellent and aesthetic, well crystallised Celestine (strontium sulphate) from Yate quarry at Yate in South Gloucestershire, England; Yate is a little to the NE of Bristol. Thick transparent and translucent colourless tabular crystals of Celestine to 3.5 cm high by 4.5 x 1.0 cm, with a bright glassy lustre, cover a matrix of granular opaque white Celestine. The Celestine emits a weak, dull mustard-yellow fluorescence in LWUV. A terrific example of Celestine from this classic British locality.
