Fluorite
A splendid large cabinet display specimen of purple Fluorite from the classic Weardale locality of Blackdene mine by the village of Ireshopeburn. The specimen is formed from two main cubic crystals, but of a more complex crystallography than a simple cube, with protruding developments of elongated rectangular prisms. The specimen has a preferential coating of small, approximately 5 mm, colourless to translucent creamy buff Fluorite scattered over with bright brassy Chalcopyrite crystals. A great Fluorite from Weardale in County Durham with a label from a previous collection.
