A well-formed partial radial cluster (covering 100 degrees of a circle) of lustrous black acicular Cronstedtite crystals measuring to 9 mm in length is nestled in a cavity lined with crystallized Quartz, dark brown Siderite and yellowish Goethite. This crystal spray presents very well and is a fine example of Cronstedtite crystals. Several smaller vugs also contain good and sizable Cronstedtite crystals, all in a characteristic Quartz veinstone for Wheal Jane mine at Baldhu, Kea, in Cornwall, England. This mine was a little to the west of Cornwall’s cathedral city and county town, Truro. Areas of very dark green Chlorite; metallic golden Pyrite and Chalcopyrite and reddish granular Siderite are also in present. Cronstedtite, an iron silicate, is a mineral particularly associated with Wheal Jane and this is a particularly good display example, small cabinet in size.
