TENNANTITE
A sparkling metallic, grey intergrown druse of crystalline Tennantite mostly covers the display face of this old-time cabinet specimen. The Tennantite crystals have formed on botryoidal metallic yellowish Chalcopyrite and minor white Quartz from the classic Tennantite location at Wheal Jewel at Crofthandy in Cornwall. Crofthandy is a small village between St. Day and Carharrack in the parish of Gwennap, a little to the east of Redruth. Wheal Jewel was a copper mine which worked from 1815 until 1853. This is a fine specimen of Tennantite from this famous Cornish mining district.
