GETCHELLITE, Realgar and Orpiment (Specimen and Polished Mount)$400.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
Getchellite occurs as 1 to 2 mm, bright metallic scarlet blades on a matrix of orange-yellow Orpiment and raspberry-red Realgar. Getchellite is a rare arsenic-antimony sulphide, whereas Orpiment and Realgar are more common arsenic sulphides. This miniature is from Getchell mine at Adam Peak in the Osgood Mountains of Humboldt County, Nevada, USA. I will mention that Getchell mine is the type locality for Getchellite, but I guess you were ahead of me on this! This specimen is accompanied with a 3.1 cm diameter x 1.3 cm deep acrylic polished mount made for reflective ore microscopy that contains samples of the three species. These are two great representative specimens from Getchell mine but remember, do always wash your hands after handling any arsenic-containing species. Better safe than sorry.
