Cerussite
A classic small miniature Cerussite from Tsumeb mine in Namibia displaying five radial crystals of differing length which form a pentagonal starburst. The lead carbonate Cerussite famously forms as repeated twins at Tsumeb, whereby paired twin crystals group to form six individual crystals each offset by 60 degrees: the six x 60 making a complete 360 degree specimen, termed a sixling. Examination of the specimen does reveal the sub of what would have been the sixth prism had this developed further. The tallest Cerussite crystal measures 2.3 cm and all are translucent white. One side has a bright glassy lustre while the opposite side is lightly coated with micro-crystals of Calcite and an earthy red mineral. This terrific Cerussite is mounted vertically on a small square acrylic base.
