Cassiterite var. WOOD Tin 2 pieces
The fibrous variety of Cassiterite called 'Wood Tin' is one of those great classics of Cornish mineralogy and will always make a terrific addition to any Cornish collection. The larger of these two specimens is the most sought after type in that it displays beautiful radial and concentric banding, so reminiscent of the rings and medullary rays within a tree trunk. The smaller specimen is a water-worn pebble measuring 1.6 x 1.0 x 0.9 cm. Both specimens are from the alluvial tin deposits on Goss Moor close to St. Austell in Cornwall and exhibit many shades of brown between milk and dark chocolate.
