EPIDOTE with AMPHIBOLE var. BYSSOLITE
Deep limey-bottle-green Epidote crystals form an intergrown cluster measuring 3.3 x 1.9 x 1.4 cm, the top surface of which is richly coated with hair-like acicular crystals of bluish teal-green Byssolite, a fibrous variety of the Amphibole Supergroup. Often, Byssolite lies within the ferroactinolite-actinolite-tremolite series. This interesting specimen is from Knappenwand in the Untersulzbach Valley, about 90 km SW of Salzburg, Austria. A few small clusters of white to greyish-cream Adularia crystals are scattered over the specimen.

Origin: Knappenwand, Untersulzbach Valley, Hohe Tauern, Salzburg, Austria
