Descloizite (basic lead-zinc vanadate) from Berg Aukas mine, close to Grootfontein in Namibia, comes in a myriad of habits and colour variations. This excellent specimen can best be described as butterfly shaped with each spread wing encrusted in sharp, spear-habit Descloizite crystals. The larger crystals measure to about 1 cm tall and wide, and tend to be a sooty matt black, while the surrounding smaller crystals are a bright, lustrous, metallic jet-black. The underlying matrix is that of vuggy, granular Descloizite. A very fine specimen from Berg Aukas.
