Calcite$950.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
A bright small cabinet specimen of well crystallised Calcite from the iron ore mining district around the town of Egremont in west Cumbria. Although no specific mine provenance has been recorded it is probably from Pallaflat mine at Bigrigg or a mine in the complex delineated by Gillfoot Park mine. Essentially transparent colourless Calcite crystals form near-equant prisms with complex crisp terminations all with a glassy lustre. Hidden along the specimen's base is an earthy textured and coloured thin matrix of weathered Hematite. The Calcite has a very clean appearance and is a great representative piece from this historic area.
