Description
A wonderfully crystallised specimen of golden-tan Siderite from Knappenberg in Carinthia state, Austria. The habit of this excellent cabinet specimen is fractal-like in that each crystal, or group of crystals, is a subset of a similar, larger group, and repeated up to the largest. Individual, somewhat curved rhombic crystals of only a few millimetres group to form similar, slightly rotating offset larger structures which repeat up to the largest fan-like groups of over 3 cm across. All crystals have a satin to glassy lustre which, due to their curved surfaces and varying orientations form a patchwork of contrasting matt and reflective areas. A superb Knappenberg Siderite.
