Description
A choice, double terminated crystal of Tantalite-(Mn) from the São João del Rei pegmatite province of Nazareno in Minas Gerais, Brazil. This ex-matrix, opaque metallic black crystal has well defined prism faces and good terminations. The surface is complexly patterned with growth structures, forming concentric stepped faces and micro-etching over the terminations. Tantalite-(Mn) forms a continuous series with Tantalite-(Fe) and was formerly named manganotantalite. It’s a very good example of Tantalite-(Mn) from this Brazilian pegmatite.
