Jet black blades of Specularite (or Specular Hematite), the crystallised variety of Hematite, completely envelope the undulating surface of botryoidal Hematite from Florence mine near to Egremont in Cumbria, England. Scattered amongst the Specularite are several double terminated colourless Quartz crystals, characteristic of this locality, with back-to-back pyramidal terminations and no intervening prism section. It is a beautiful example with no damage and an eye-catching sparking surface. A matrix of earthy red, massive Hematite forms the core of the specimen, visible on the specimen’s base.\n
