Description
A super specimen of acicular Zinkenite crystal sprays from the San Jose Mine in the Oruro Department of Bolivia. Individual needle-like crystals of between 0.5 and 1 mm wide form aligned aggregates of up to 2.5 cm long and possibly much longer, although these are hidden by the specimen's complexity. Zinkenite is a lead antimony sulphide and forms steel-grey crystals with a subdued metallic lustre. This lovely specimen has no attached matrix and is a delicate, finger-sized, narrow cluster of long, fan-like sprays.
