CERUSSITE
An extremely rich cabinet Cerussite from the MMM mine at Broken Hill in Australia with masses of snowy-white crystals covering both sides of what appears to be a Coronadite-rich matrix. The Cerussite forms as individual, columnar crystals, which can probably be termed 'Jackstraw' Cerussite, of typically 1 to 1.5 cm tall, but reaching 2 cm. These form an almost complete coverage of, say, 85% of the upper surface. Where the tan dolomitic matrix is visible, it is partly coated with a thin layer of micro-botryoidal grey Coronadite with dull blue patina. The base is also covered with similar, but shorter, Cerussite crystals, forming intergrown mats rather than individual crystals. Many crystals on the base are somewhat damaged due to being placed face down with the specimen resting on them. A very showy and beautiful Jackstraw-type Cerussite from Broken Hill, Australia.
