Pyromorphite
A very rare location specimen of well formed hexagonal Pyromorphite crystals on milky veinstone Quartz from Glenmalure in County Wicklow, Ireland. Two mines are recorded as having produced Pyromorphite from here; Ballinafunshoge and Ballynagoneen, but this has not been recorded with the specimen. The Pyromorphite forms stubby hexagonal prisms, typically up to 5 mm tall by 2 to 3 mm across flats, with flat pinacoid terminations and of a pleasing acidic lemon-yellow. The specimen comes with an old Hugh A. Ford (Wall Street, New York) label.
