Sceptre Quartz
A hexagonal, doubly-terminated, 8.6 cm long colourless Sceptre Quartz with a lustrous glassy surface and dense internal crazing. From the Jinkouhe District in Leshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China, the 'tail' of the sceptre divides into two parallel, co-joined crystals, each with a sharp termination. The Quartz crystals contain many tiny black inclusions, probably metal sulphides and at least one fluid inclusion. The latter is to one side of the thicker crystal, the bubble of which has a few millimetres of travel. Ex Hans Engelbrecht collection.
