Väyrynenite

A pink translucent naturally etched bladed crystal of the rare mineral V'yrynenite measuring to 2.5 by 1.9 cm with gemmy areas on the edges of the crystal. This large thumbnail is from the gem deposits close to the village of Shengus in the centre of far northern Pakistan. V'yrynenite is a rare manganese-beryllium phosphate also containing fluorine and occurs in pegmatite bodies as an alteration of beryl and triphylite. This is a great example of a rare species which has been mounted to stand vertically on the deep square acrylic base.
