Quartz Japan Law Twin
Naru is almost the most westerly island in the complex archipelago which forms Japan. This locality has become famous for its variety of twinned Quartz crystals and this is a great example of a Japan Law twin. Erroneously, Naru island is often quoted as the type locality for the Japan Law habit, but this is not the case. The Japan Law form is where a twinned Quartz crystal bifurcates at what appears as 90' but is actually 84' 33'. This clear, colourless twin is formed from a pair of flattened Quartz crystals, averaging about 2 mm thick and up to 1.6 cm wide. This great little specimen comes which a now historic Lawrence H. Conklin (New York) printed label.
