Fluorite
This stunning, large, display quality Height's mine green Fluorite is not only spectacular in its visual quality, but in its pedigree too. Featuring lustrous gemmy, green, transparent interpenetrant twinned cubic crystals of Fluorite measuring to 2 cm on edge on a typical altered iron rich Limestone matrix. These green crystals are all in excellent condition and show daylight fluorescence to a bluish-green colour. The twinning growth lines visible on the crystal surfaces are wonderful. This piece is recorded as having been collected by Richard Barstow in July 1977 from flats on the Height's South Vein, and comes with his highly collectible white private collection label. Upon his tragic death, in 1982, it was acquired by Ralph Sutcliffe who sold it in 1991 to Lindsay Greenbank. Since the very early 1980's it has not been possible to access the underground workings of Height's mine, making this one of the last great specimens to have been obtained there. Ex Lindsay Greenbank Collection, no. LG.364, with his detailed collection label - note that the specimen has been professionally trimmed, which is why there is a discrepancy in the measurements recorded by Lindsay Greenbank.
