Calcite
A classic Calcite from the St Andreasberg mining district in the Harz Mountains of Lower Saxony, Germany. A complete bed of hexagonal, colour-zoned, highly lustrous crystals of typically 1.3 cm broad and up to 2 cm. Each partly colourless and glassy flat crystal contains alternating white and light grey hexagonal zones of diminishing size. This splendid specimen comes with an old copper-plate hand-written label in sepia-coloured ink.
