WHEWELLITE

Whewellite is a relatively rare organic mineral, a hydrated calcium oxalate. This is a near-perfect, off-matrix, translucent to semi-transparent milky-white crystal with a pearly lustre. Some faces display detailed growth patterns. An excellent crystal and example of this chemically unusual species from Schacht 38 Mine in the Schlema-Hartenstein District of Erzgebirge, Saxony.
