NATIVE Copper Rose pseudomorph Azurite
The Copper Rose mine at San Lorenzo, New Mexico, USA is considered an American classic, mainly because of its Native Copper rose pseudomorphs after Azurite after which its name is derived. This small mine worked a metamorphosed limestone and these pseudomorphs were highly sought after in the late 1800's. This large thumbnail to small miniature specimen comprises matt, blush pink micro-granular Native Copper replacing a complete 3-dimensional rosette of former Azurite crystals, with cream-coloured clay remaining between the narrow blades. The edges of the rosette are a little rounded, but this is a very good size example of this classic.
