A splendid small cabinet specimen of smoky double terminated Quartz crystals overlaying a bed of finely crystallised Specular Hematite covering a matrix of massive reddish-grey Hematite ore. This terrific combination is a West Cumbrian classic from Florence mine, just east of the town of Egremont in Cumbria. The Quartz crystals attain 2 x 1.5 x 1.5 cm and range from semi-transparent to smoky translucent. Specular Hematite, or Specularite, is a variety of Hematite when it forms bright, highly reflective tabular crystals. A great specimen from Florence which will display well.
