Baryte$3,500.00

Lustrous tabular crystals of blue-white Baryte measuring to 4.3 cm display aesthetically on edge from a crystal druse of white-pinkish Dolomite. An old Julius Böhm label (ca.1850?-1925) states the location as the Agnes mine at Frizington in Cumbria, England. At present there appears to be no record of this mine on mindat, but an Agnes Iron Pit was located 7 km ESE of Whitehaven in Cumbria. Whitehaven is only 8 km (5 miles) from Frizington. This is a superb specimen and an exceedingly rare example from this little known mine. The Agnes mine is known to have produced very fine specimens including iridescent golden Dolomite, two specimen of which I have in my own collection.
