No matter how many specimens of Campylite from Dry Gill mine one has in a collection, there is always room for one more! The variety in colour, aesthetic, texture and habit is never-ending and this is a great small miniature. Campylite is the barrel shaped variety of Mimetite and this deposit in the Caldbeck Fells of the English Lake District is world renowned. Deep pumpkin to burnt toffee orange curved crystals densely cover a hard black matrix of manganese oxides in striking contrast. The largest Campylite crystals measures 7 mm and all have the most attractive bright glassy lustre.
