Excellent well-formed crystals of gemmy, barley sugar orange Grossular garnet measuring to 6 mm are tightly clustered amongst grey-green Clinochlore from the Ala Valley in Torino Province, Piedmont, Italy. This region of north-western Italy is adjacent to the border with France and only about 50 km south of Switzerland. It is a famously well mineralised district which has been meticulously explored due to it being a popular destination for climbers. A choice large miniature specimen from the Ala Valley.
