Double terminated, slightly smoky Quartz crystals to 2.5 cm richly cap a dome of black metallic Hematite crystals, variety Specularite. From the iron mines at Cleator Moor in Cumbria, England, the underlying matrix is a hollow botryoidal shell of kidney ore Hematite which forms a dome over its upper surface. The Quartz does not have any prism faces, only back-to-back hexagonal terminations, very characteristic of this part of Cumbria. Displays very well.
