Chrysocolla
Areas rich in the hydrated copper phyllosilicate, Chrysocolla, part-cover the surface of a brecciated coarse granular Quartz matrix. The Chrysocolla forms emerald to turquoise-green crusts and veinlets all over and within the matrix and tends to have a texture of frosted glass with a waxy lustre. Recorded as 'green opal from Cornwall' on the original label, it is thought likely to originate from one of the copper-rich areas within the Lizard Peninsula.
